Ravens have pulled this Maxx Crosby move with 3 other deals before

The Baltimore Ravens, at least in some ways, have been here before.

On Tuesday night, they backed out of the agreed-upon trade they had with the Las Vegas Raiders that would've sent two first-round picks to the Raiders in exchange for superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby.

It's thrown a huge curveball into the offseason, with Crosby and the Raiders now having to figure out what's next.

It also has raised a lot of questions about the Ravens, who some have wondered if they simply were having buyer's remorse.

The deal couldn't become official until the new league year began Wednesday, and the Ravens apparently cited Crosby's physical as their reason for backing out.

It'll be hard to ever know exactly what happened here, but ESPN's Jamison Hensley clued everyone in on X that the Ravens have done this before.

MORE:Why the Raiders are no longer trading Maxx Crosby to the Ravens

He shared three instances in his post on social media.

The first was 1997, when the Ravens had a deal agreed with Cowboys safety Brock Marion but didn't go through with it because of concern about his left shoulder.

The Ravens had Ryan Grant agreed to a free agent contract in 2018 but then didn't complete it when he failed his physical.

Then in 2020, Michael Brockers had an agreement with the Ravens, but concern about his left ankle made that fall through.

This one with Crosby is the highest profile by far, and the fact that it was a trade and so directly impacts another team makes it even crazier.

Whatever the reason, it's not quite as unprecedented as you'd think. Baltimore has followed a similar path a few other times.
