With the trade between the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens involving star edge rusher Maxx Crosby being nixed, teams that likely had interest in him like the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears have new hope they can land the five-time Pro Bowler.
And, there has been a belief that perhaps Crosby can be had at a discount after what unfolded between Las Vegas and Baltimore on Tuesday night.
However, in what is bad news for those teams and any other team thinking they may be able to get Crosby for cheaper, that is not the case.
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Raiders are not just going to lower their demands because of what happened with the Ravens trade.
In fact, Las Vegas is open to keeping Crosby now that he's back. It is worth noting that reports suggested the Raiders weren't exactly keen on trading him in the first place.
"All this is difficult for everyone. The Raiders will work through different scenarios — some teams called last night, but Vegas isn't going to trade Crosby on a discount," Breer reported on Wednesday morning.
"All options remain in play with Maxx Crosby," Breer added. "Vegas is certainly very open to keeping him."
In addition to those rumors, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that Crosby is now prepared to play for the Raiders again.
"Raiders star Maxx Crosby, now back from Baltimore with the trade to the Ravens off, is headed back into the building in Las Vegas, ready to resume his training and rehab program," Rapoport reported.
"His mindset: Crosby is ready to play football for the Raiders, ready to move forward," the NFL insider added.
Rapoport added that teams have called the Raiders since the nixed trade, but they are "looking for a good deal," which means they're trying to take advantage of the situation, something that was to be expected.
We mention the Bills, Bears and Cowboys because all three teams were reportedly interested in Crosby before he was shipped off to Baltimore.
The Eagles are easy to connect to possible interest to Crosby because of their dire need at edge rusher, especially after Jaelan Phillips signed with the Carolina Panthers.
Perhaps this report from Rapoport is just posturing from Crosby and the Raiders and the star edge rusher still wants to be traded and this is an attempt to get his value back up.
But we would not doubt for a second that Crosby wants to stay in Las Vegas after the fiasco in Baltimore.
Either way, the Raiders aren't going to give him away, so it's still going to be expensive to acquire Crosby.
