Bam Adebayo reveals why 83-point game was extra special

The Miami Heat entered Tuesday night's game against the Washington Wizards in what seemed like an ordinary regular season game.

However, star center Bam Adebayo made sure it was a night that no one would forget, showcasing his skills with an all-time scoring performance.

Adebayo went off in the first quarter, scoring 31 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field including five three-pointers.

Although he sat for a bit in the second, Adebayo still scored 12 in the quarter to enter the break with 43.

But, Adebayo didn't stop there. He continued to score at an all-time level, breaking plenty of records in the process.

Adebayo broke the Heat franchise record for most points in a game, broke the record for free throws attempted in a game, broke the record for free throws made in a game and went on to surpass Kobe Bryant for the second-highest scoring game in NBA history.

On the night, Adebayo finished with 83 of his team's 150 points on 20-for-43 shooting from the field and 36-for-43 shooting from the free-throw line.

He also added nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.

Following the game, Adebayo spoke about what made the night extra special.

"To have this moment is surreal, because like I said, man, to be able to do it at home, in front of my mom, in front of my people, in front of the home fans, this is a mark in history that will forever be remembered."

After playing 42 of 48 minutes Tuesday, Adebayo and the Heat will have one day to rest before returning to action Thursday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
