Bayern Munich plan talks for player who wants Liverpool move

Sky Sports Switzerland has reported that Bayern Munich are advancing on a defender who has not been shy in admitting his affection for Liverpool.

Bayern Munich still can’t quite shake the feeling that Liverpool got one over on them with the signing of Florian Wirtz. The German playmaker chose Anfield over Bavaria in a blockbuster move from Bayer Leverkusen, and Bayern figures have since made a series of thinly veiled digs about Liverpool’s spending and star power, betraying a touch of lingering resentment over missing out on a generational German talent.

It is not the only market setback Bayern have had to swallow recently. Sporting director Max Eberl has openly admitted that the club admired Liverpool-bound centre-back Jeremy Jacquet but ultimately couldn’t match the financial package that took the Frenchman to Anfield.

Now, according to Sky Sports Switzerland, Bayern are now moving for highly rated Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read and plan made contact with the player’s camp. The report claims the German giants see the 19-year-old as a long-term project at right-back and have been informed of Feyenoord’s position as negotiations around a potential fee begin to take shape.

Sacha Tavolieri reports:

“Bayern Munich is already preparing for its summer transfer window and one name is coming up insistently: that of Givairo Read. The Bavarian club hopes to convince the Feyenoord right-back to join the Bundesliga this summer, despite already well-established competition, especially from Manchester City.”

However, there is a twist that won’t go unnoticed on Merseyside.

In a 2025 interview, when asked to pick between Manchester United and Manchester City as his favourite Premier League club, Read didn’t hesitate in instead choosing the Anfield club: “Liverpool, for sure! Nothing else, no one else.”

The Feyenoord youngster has already made his Champions League debut, can play on both flanks and fits the aggressive, attack-minded full-back profile that has become a hallmark at Anfield.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool firm up any interest this summer.
