Barcelona v Newcastle United ticket news: Barcelona have released an official statement ahead of the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 meeting with Newcastle United at the Spotify Camp Nou.
The tie is finely balanced heading to Spain after Lamine Yamal’s late penalty rescued a draw for Barcelona following Harvey Barnes’ late strike which looked like winning the game for Newcastle United at St James’ Park. Eddie Howe’s side will be backed by over 2,000 fans at the Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday night, just four days after the vast majority of those make a trip to London for a league game against Chelsea.
There could even be an extra 800 visiting fans after it was confirmed that the Camp Nou’s capacity on Wednesday night could be raised to 62,000. Further details on additional tickets for Newcastle United fans is still awaited.
Barcelona release Newcastle United statement
With an estimated 10,000 Newcastle United fans set to descend on Barcelona for Wednesday night’s game, there will be a large number of fans that have travelled to Spain without a match ticket. In other European games this season, most notably against Union Saint-Gilloise and Bayer Leverkusen, Newcastle United fans have found tickets in the home sections of European stadiums.
However, Barcelona have released a statement urging Newcastle United fans without a ticket not to travel to the Camp Nou and that they have implemented measures to prevent tickets in the home end from being bought by Newcastle United supporters.

That statement read: ‘For the Champions League round of 16 second-leg match that FC Barcelona will play against Newcastle at Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday, March 18 (18:45), the Club, as in all matches classified as high-risk, will adopt the necessary security measures to guarantee the safety of all members, fans, and local and visiting supporters. In this way, it will also implement control measures in ticket sales, especially regarding the sale of seats and the presence in the Stadium of attendees from the rival team outside the area designated for their fans. The purpose of the measures implemented is to guarantee maximum safety for all spectators.
‘For this reason, a call is made to all rival team fans, in this case Newcastle supporters without tickets, to avoid traveling to Spotify Camp Nou, as no ticket sales points will be available. Only those with a ticket managed by their Club in the area reserved for visiting supporters will be allowed to enter the Stadium.
‘It should be noted that the Club stopped ticket sales for this match from Friday after detecting the current situation, aiming to prevent a repeat of incidents like those that occurred in 2022.’
It added: ‘The Club asks spectators to arrive well in advance of the match and have all documentation ready to show if requested by any Club or security personnel at the entrances. Likewise, it is reminded that the reinforced security measures applied effectively in the last match against Eintracht Frankfurt will remain in place and, given the exceptional nature of this match, will be re-implemented.’
