Arsenal want to sign NUFC star this summer, he has the same agent as Mikel Arteta

Arsenal are considering making a summer bid for Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento, according to the Telegraph.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen at the back at the Emirates Stadium club, and he could look to lure the England international away from the St. James Park club.

The Arsenal boss and the Newcastle star have the same agent, which could potentially simplify concluding a deal.

Livramento will have two years left on his Magpies contract at the end of the season, and he has not yet shown a willingness to sign an extension.

It could be good news for the Gunners, but Newcastle are expected to ask suitors for around £60 million for the services of the 23-year-old.

Livramento can play on both sides of the defence, which is one the reasons Arteta wants him at Arsenal.

However, it remains to be seen whether the North London club will be open to paying up to £60m for a player not guaranteed a starting spot.

He was also on the radar of Manchester City in recent months, but they have moved on to other targets.

Signing Livramento or another full-back will put the future of Ben White Arsenal in huge doubt.

The 28-year-old is set to have options to move in the summer having lost his place in the Gunners’ starting XI in recent seasons.

However, the fitness struggles of the Newcastle star could put a move in doubt or prove to be a stumbling block when agreeing a fee.

The Arsenal target missed almost whole season at Southampton with a serious knee injury.

He has dealt with hamstring and knee problems this term, starting just 11 games across all competitions so far.

Livramento just returned from a hamstring injury and Arsenal could do with a fitter defender going forward given their fitness record this term.
