Cam Payne gives inspirational message after career-high performance

The Philadelphia 76ers entered Tuesday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies without three of their top-four scorers.

The duo of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are currently sidelined due to injury while Paul George is serving a 25-game suspension.

That said, despite missing their key contributors, the 76ers didn't have trouble scoring.

Philadelphia finished with 139 points in a 10-point victory over Memphis.

Kelly Oubre Jr., Quentin Grimes and rookie VJ Edgecombe did most of the heavy lifting in the starting lineup, combining to score 74 points.

However, it was backup point guard Cameron Payne who turned in the best performance of his 11-year career.

Payne scored a career-high 32 points on a perfect 8-for-8 from three-point range. He also added 10 assists, three rebounds, three steals and two blocks with no turnovers.

Following the game, Payne spoke about the performance and his attitude coming off the bench.

"You never know when your name will get called. Just always stay ready."

This advice from Payne has been seen throughout his journey this season.

Payne was playing in the EuroLeague for Prtaizan Belgrade as recently as February, but was given a chance to return back to the NBA with Philadelphia and hasn't looked back ever since.

He's now played in 11 games for the Sixers this season, making one start.

With the win, Philadelphia snapped a brief two-game skid, but have still dropped from sixth to eighth in the conference after losing four of their last six games.

The 76ers will have Wednesday off before traveling to Detroit Thursday to take on the Pistons.
