Report: Everton now working on deal to sign new Frank Lampard who Chelsea sold for £12.5m

Everton are now looking at Cesare Casadei as the Toffees aim to add more goals to the midfield department.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has impressively delivered six goals and five assists from midfield in 22 Premier League appearances so far this season, following his £28m move from Chelsea back in August.

Besides the Englishman – however – no other midfielder has contributed more than two goals, the tally that Idrissa Gueye and James Garner both sit on as things stand.

A story from Tuttosport now serves to suggest The Friedkin Group want to improve this situation for David Moyes – as Everton send emissaries to work on a deal for Casadei.

Everton battling West Ham to sign Chelsea outcast Cesare Casadei

The Italian news outlet believe Everton have sent club representatives to Italy to discuss a deal for the 23-year-old with Torino. Tuttosport add that West Ham have also done the same.

Casadei joined Torino in a £12.5m move from Chelsea back in February 2025 after a rough time in west London, following a £16.8m switch from Inter Milan in August 2022 at the age of 19.

The man from Ravenna only made 17 appearances for Chelsea, and also struggled during loans at Reading and Leicester before returning to Italy.

However, since moving back to Serie A with Torino, the towering 6ft 4in midfielder has started to show why Chelsea spent so much to sign him at the age of 19 with six goals in 43 appearances.

Casadei boasts a reputation for delivering goals from midfield, netting 26 in 66 games for the Inter Milan Primavera side along with eight goals in nine outings for the Italy U19 team.

The Daily Mail even highlighted comparisons to Frank Lampard after Chelsea agreed that aforementioned £16.8m deal to take him from Inter Milan.

So, if Everton can get Casadei firing in English football, he could prove to be a real dangerman alongside Dewsbury-Hall in midfield.

Cesare Casadei knows Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall well

In our opinion, Casadei might pick Everton over West Ham due to the presence of Dewsbury-Hall at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Torino No.22 played alongside the Everton No.22 during that aforementioned loan spell at Leicester and also at Chelsea, making 25 appearances together and boasting a superb record.

Is this genuinely realistic…🤔

Casadei and Dewsbury-Hall won 21 and drew one of these 25 games together, proving they work well alongside each other in midfield.
