Raiders' defensive end Maxx Crosby broke his silence on the Ravens' failed trade for him

The Las Vegas Raiders and the collective NFL world were dealt a shock on Tuesday night when it was revealed that the Baltimore Ravens were backing out of their trade for superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby. In the blink of an eye, the Raiders’ offseason plans flipped on a dime, as they now no longer have the two first-round picks they were set to receive from the Ravens in exchange for Crosby.

The reason for Baltimore backing out of this trade was due to Crosby failing his physical, as he is recovering from surgery he underwent to repair a meniscus injury. Simply put, the Ravens’ stunning heel turn has shocked everyone, and in the wake of this big move, Crosby shared a simple reaction on social media.

After weeks of trade rumors, the Raiders agreed to a deal with the Ravens that saw Crosby get sent to Baltimore in exchange for its 2026 and 2027 first-round picks. Over the past few days, Las Vegas operated under the assumption that it wouldn’t have Crosby’s three-year, $106.5 million contract on its books and that it would have two more future first-round picks to work with.

Now, everything has completely changed. Not only is Crosby back in town for the time being, but the Raiders also have a slew of free agents it has agreed to deals with over the past two days that are set to join the team. Despite the newfound cap complications the front office is facing, reports indicate Las Vegas intends to honor all the contracts it has agreed to since the legal tampering period opened up on Monday.

As for Crosby, nobody knows what the future holds for him. He is returning to the Raiders for the time being, but teams have already begun contacting the team in an attempt to trade for him. Crosby seems to be taking the entire situation in stride, as he issued a strong message on social media in the wake of the Ravens backing out of this trade for him.

“3/11/20. 6 Years Sober. God Doesn’t Make Mistakes. 🦅💎” Crosby shared in a post on X Wednesday morning.

For now, Crosby’s future is up in the air. The Raiders could conceivably hold onto him, but with several teams already showing interest in trading for him, even when accounting for the Ravens’ decision to back out of this deal, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him land with a new team. Las Vegas won’t get the same sort of return it was set to get from Baltimore, but it should still receive a strong return for Crosby, should it move him.

And considering how Crosby’s relationship with the Raiders had largely deteriorated prior to him landing with the Ravens, it’s safe to assume that he still would prefer to find himself on another team once the 2026 campaign rolls around. Regardless, this is a nearly unprecedented situation for a player of Crosby’s caliber, and all eyes will be on him as Las Vegas attempts to sort out this situation.
