Tottenham hints at manager decision as fans demand'emergency action'before Liverpool game

Igor Tudor looks set to remain as Tottenham head coach ahead of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Liverpool.

The former Juventus manager is facing increasing pressure given his torrid start since replacing Thomas Frank on an interim basis last month. Tudor has lost all of his first four games in charge, including Tuesday’s farcical 5-2 defeat at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Spurs were four goals down by the 22nd minute, with Tudor’s decision to select Antonin Kinsky in nets backfiring. The Czech goalkeeper was responsible for two of Atletico’s opening goals and he was brutally hauled after just 17 minutes of the last-16 tie.

Sunday’s game at Anfield falls in between Champions League double headers for both Liverpool and Tottenham, with three Premier League points essential for their respective aims.

While the Reds are pushing to ensure they will be in Europe’s premier competition once again next season, Spurs’ immediate aim is to preserve their Premier League status.

The London club is just a point clear of the drop zone having failed to win any of its last 11 league games.

Tudor’s arrival has not helped stem the tide and there have been calls for him to be replaced after just four games. However, Tottenham has all but confirmed the Croatian will remain in situ for now, with Tudor set to hold a pre-match press conference on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust has called for “emergency action” to be taken.

“Tonight’s performance and result is a total disgrace. It’s symptomatic of the abysmal state of things at Spurs right now,” the group wrote on X.

“From the January transfer window to the management appointments, the lack of leadership and the total absence of anyone with a Spurs pedigree informing these decisions. Where is the Daring to Do? Where are the Echoes of Glory?

“Emergency action is needed as right now we are sleep walking off the edge of a cliff. Being a Spurs fan has never been so difficult but supporters will not sit by and watch the club continue to decline. There will be more to follow…

“At the very least those in Madrid should have their match tickets refunded. But all we really care about is that the club make us proud. We are here to support the team and be the 12th man. But we all deserve so much more.”

Alarmingly for Spurs, Arne Slot has enjoyed his previous meetings with the club, winning four of his five games as Liverpool boss - the exception being the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg last season, which Liverpool comfortably overturned in the second leg. Tottenham has also not won at Anfield since 2011.
