Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has warned Arne Slot that he will get sacked if results do not improve. He is confident that they will overcome the deficit against Galatasaray, but does not see them going past the next round.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Carragher said that Liverpool are miles off where they should be, and it is a worry. He sees major issues wiht the squad despite spending the £400 million in the summer and said:
"It’s still a team Liverpool should beat and should go through. So, I’m still 98 per cent. It was 99 a couple of weeks ago. So, I still think Liverpool will go through. But, this is a worry for the for the manager and the team. What we saw tonight is what we saw in early on the group stages away to Galatasaray early on the season.
"This team is just a million miles off where it was supposed to be this season which was that we’d be talking about them in the same light the way we speak about Bayern Munich right now. That was the whole point of L'pool spending over £400 million in the summer was to go the next step from winning the Premier League to go and win the Champions League." (via Mirror)
Carragher added that the manager is bound to get the sack because of the results, but does not see any manager coming in and fixing the issues straight away.
"Do I think another manager could come in straight away, or any manager, say you give him that squad? I don’t think it dramatically changes. I really do think the makeup of the squad, how it’s been put together, the lack of options in certain areas, is a is a big problem as well. So it’s not just all about the manager but as we know, managers carry the can.”
Liverpool are sixth in the Premier League this season and are losing 1-0 to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 after first leg.

Liverpool appointed Arne Slot in the summer of 2024 after taking their time to pick the replacement for Jurgen Klopp. The German manager announced earlier in the 2023/24 season that he was exiting the club at the end of the season after running out of energy.
Slot won the Premier League title in his first season and also got the runners-up medal in the Carabao Cup. However, he had an early exit in the FA Cup and was unable to make it past the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, losing to PSG.
Xabi Alonso has been linked with the Anfield job this summer, should the Reds sack Arne Slot.
