The Green Bay Packers have been very quiet to begin the 2026 NFL offseason, at least from the perspective of adding talent to the roster.

So far since the NFL free agency legal tampering window opened, the Packers have lost quite a few key players from last season. Among the departures are pass rusher Rashan Gary, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, linebacker Quay Walker, cornerback Nate Hobbs, and offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins.

Fans have been hoping to see Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay front office put in some work in free agency. There are a couple of clear needs the team must address.

Two of the Packers’ biggest needs right now are adding defensive line and cornerback help. Green Bay did sign free agent cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, although he isn’t the most consistent defensive back in the league.

With that being said, a new projection would have the Packers making an unpopular move with their first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Green Bay Packers Projected to Target Offensive Lineman

Jacob Infante of Pro Football Network has predicted Green Bay to take Northwestern offensive tackle Caleb Tiernan in the second round at No. 52 overall.

Due to the Micah Parsons trade with the Dallas Cowboys last year, the Packers do not have a first-round pick.

“Caleb Tiernan is a massive blocker, standing at 6’7″ and weighing 329 pounds, with gap-zone run-blocking versatility,” Infante wrote. “He has the size, strength, hand usage, and spatial awareness to become a good starter in the NFL.”

Bringing in an offensive lineman would help the depth protecting Jordan Love. However, it would not address the glaring issues that the team must address. Nor is it a popular or flashy position.

Tiernan could be a great fit for the Green Bay offense. It wouldn’t be a bad pick. But, it’s fair to say that fans wouldn’t love it unless the Packers make some other moves via free agency or the trade market.

What Has Green Bay Done So Far This Offseason?

At this point in time, Green Bay has only made a few moves in NFL free agency.

One of those moves was to re-sign offensive lineman Darian Kinnard to a one-year contract. The Packers also brought in St-Juste as previously noted.

St-Juste is coming off of a 2025 NFL season with the Los Angeles Chargers that saw him play in 16 games. He recorded 37 tackles to go along with an interception and seven defended passes.

The other move Green Bay has made was to sign wide receiver and return man Skyy Moore. He is expected to have a shot at being the Packers’ primary kick returner, although he isn’t expected to have an impact at the wide receiver position.

It will be interesting to see if Gutekunst has any moves up his sleeve. Fans can only hope that more impact additions are on the way.
