There are concerns in Spain over Maurizio Mariani
Sections of the Spanish media have expressed serious concerns over the official presiding over last-16 first leg against . The two titans on Wednesday evening.

Yet this will be the third occasion Mariani has officiated a Madrid fixture in the competition. To date, the Italian has overseen Madrid's 2-0 triumph over RB Leipzig in the 2022/2023 campaign and their loss to Lille in the 2024/2025 group stage.
