Olympiacos coach Georgios Bartzokas defended Cory Joseph ahead of the EuroLeague game against Monaco, addressing criticism about the guard's weight.
Cory Joseph arrived in Europe as a high-profile signing for Olympiacos Piraeus, bringing years of NBA experience to the EuroLeague.
Expectations were high, but so far, the guard has had a modest season, drawing some criticism for his recent form and extra kilos.
Ahead of Thursday's EuroLeague clash against AS Monaco, Olympiacos coach Georgios Bartzokas addressed the criticism directly.
"We have to be more moderate when we talk about him. I constantly read insulting comments about Cory's weight. He probably has three or four kilos more than when he played in the NBA. He was never considered the most physically fit player anyway, but despite that he built a very notable career," Bartzokas said per Meridian Sport.

The coach also highlighted Joseph's skill set and importance to the team.
"He understands the game very well, he passes the ball well, and he is a very good shooter. He does not feel nervous or under pressure. He is important for us," the coach added.
Joseph has averaged just over 15 minutes per game this season, putting up 5.5 points, 2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. Olympiacos sit in the second place of the EuroLeague standings with a 20-10 record.
