Vikings trade rumor could lead to deal with Cowboys, Commanders or Bills

The Minnesota Vikings are receiving calls on edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, who has emerged as a top trade target in the edge rusher market.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports that multiple franchises have inquired about Greenard's availability, and Russini also adds that pass-rush-needy teams could shift their focus towards acquiring the Vikings edge rusher after Trey Hendrickson signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

"Look for teams in need of pass rush help to turn their attention to a potential trade for Minnesota’s Jonathan Greenard, who multiple teams have inquired about, as well as other options on the free-agent market," Russini said.

Greenard had just three sacks in 12 games this past season, but in his last fully healthy season in 2024, the 28-year-old posted 12 sacks and was selected to the Pro Bowl. He also had 12.5 sacks in 2023 with the Houston Texans.

Despite a down year in 2025, Greenard can still be an effective pass rusher and could garner interest from the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Buffalo Bills on the trade market.

Though Dallas acquired Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers, the team could still use another starting-caliber edge rusher. A pass rush duo of Gary and Greenard would give the Cowboys a better chance of consistently getting to the quarterback in 2026.

Washington and Buffalo also need help at edge rusher after missing out on Hendrickson, and Greenard could be a possible trade target for both squads. However, the Commanders are low on draft capital, so it could be tough for general manager Adam Peters to pull off any trades at the moment.

Greenard is a hot name on the trade market, and if he gets dealt, the Cowboys, Bills, and Commanders could be his next home.
