Where the Chiefs’ Legendary Draft Class of 2022 Stand Amid 2026 Free Agency Chaos

George Karlaftis poses onstage after being selected 30th by the Kansas City Chiefs during round one of the 2022 NFL Draft on April 28, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2022 NFL Draft class has long been considered one of the most impactful in franchise history. The group helped shape the team’s modern dynasty and played a key role in multiple Super Bowl victories.

Four years later, however, the roster looks very different. A wave of free agency moves has scattered many of those players across the league. In less than a week, the Chiefs went from having eight members of the 2022 class on their roster to just one.

The class collectively earned $338 million in new contracts during the latest free agency period. While several players landed major deals elsewhere, only one remains under contract with Kansas City.

George Karlaftis Remains the Last Chiefs Player From the 2022 Draft

Defensive end Karlaftis is now the only remaining member of the Chiefs’ 2022 draft class still on the team.

Karlaftis signed a four-year contract extension worth $88 million with Kansas City. The deal includes a $20 million signing bonus and $61,778,566 in guaranteed money.

Under the contract, Karlaftis carries an average annual salary of $22 million. In 2026, he is set to earn a base salary of $10.9 million along with a $250,000 workout bonus. His cap hit for that season will be $15.15 million, with a dead cap value of $26.9 million.

The extension now looks relatively modest compared to several other contracts signed by edge rushers during the same free agency period.

Several Former Chiefs Draft Picks Land Major Free Agency Deals

While Karlaftis stayed in Kansas City, several of his former draft classmates secured new contracts with other teams.

Cornerback Trent McDuffie signed a four-year contract worth $124 million with the Los Angeles Rams. The deal includes $100 million guaranteed and carries an average annual salary of $31 million.

Safety Bryan Cook also moved on, signing a three-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals valued at $40.25 million. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the only guaranteed money in the deal is a $14 million bonus scheduled to arrive early in the contract.

Cook’s reported cap hits include $8 million in 2026, $15.3 million in 2027, and $16.2 million in 2028.

Linebacker Leo Chenal also left Kansas City, agreeing to a three-year contract worth $24.75 million with the Washington Commanders.

The 25-year-old linebacker joined Washington after four seasons with the Chiefs and two Super Bowl championships.

Cornerback Joshua Williams signed a two-year contract with the Tennessee Titans valued at $10 million, including approximately $2.5 million guaranteed.

Other Members of the 2022 Draft Class Find New Teams

Several additional players from the 2022 class have also signed contracts with new organizations.

Wide receiver Skyy Moore signed with the Green Bay Packers. Moore previously played for the San Francisco 49ers during the 2025 season, where he returned 25 punts for 291 yards and 33 kickoffs for 907 yards.

Offensive lineman Darian Kinnard also joined the Packers on a one-year contract worth $2.75 million. The deal includes a $1 million signing bonus and $1 million guaranteed.

In 2026, Kinnard will earn a base salary of $1.31 million, a signing bonus of $1 million, and a workout bonus of $100,000.

Cornerback Jaylen Watson signed a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams valued at $51 million. The agreement includes $34 million guaranteed and a $12.74 million signing bonus.

Running back Isiah Pacheco also moved on, signing a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions worth $1.81 million, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.

Safety Nazeeh Johnson is currently the only remaining member of the class who has not finalized a new contract.

Johnson remains an unrestricted free agent and could potentially return to Kansas City. If that occurs, he would join Karlaftis as one of the final remaining members of the 2022 draft group connected to the franchise.
