An insider believes the Pittsburgh Steelers should pursue Devin White

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a solid start to the 2026 NFL offseason, although they still don’t have an answer about Aaron Rodgers’ future.

Currently, the team is still operating with a major question mark at the quarterback position. Rodgers could end up returning for another year, or he could choose to retire or sign with a different team.

Regardless of who the quarterback ends up being for the Steelers, they went out and acquired another weapon. Pittsburgh acquired talented wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts. He will be an elite No. 2 option behind DK Metcalf.

Should Rodgers choose to leave town, the Steelers would have Will Howard and Mason Rudolph as potential starting options. Pittsburgh would then need to make sure that whoever the quarterback is has the right weapons to find success.

Keeping that in mind, the Steelers have been connected to potentially adding another prolific playmaker.

Adding yet another wide receiver would make the Pittsburgh offense even more dangerous. That is exactly what Pro Football Network’s Jacob Infante has suggested they could do.

In his latest seven-round mock draft, Infante has the Steelers drafting USC Trojans standout wide receiver Makai Lemon with the No. 21 overall pick.

“Makai Lemon was an All-American in 2025 with 79 catches, 1,156 yards, and 11 touchdowns,” Infante wrote. “He is a sure-handed slot receiver who’s quick after the catch and consistently gets open against both man and zone coverage with sharp breaks and good leverage work through his stems.”

Bringing in a legitimate slot receiver would be the missing piece for Pittsburgh. The team will have Metcalf and Pittman on the outside. Lemon would fit nicely.

Rodgers would also have a hard time passing on the opportunity to throw to that trio of wide receivers.

What Have the Steelers Done So Far This Offseason?

Outside of the trade for Pittman, Pittsburgh has made a few other moves.

The Steelers made the move to add cornerback Jamel Dean on a three-year, $36.75 million deal, running back Rico Dowdle on a two-year, $12.25 million deal, re-signed Asante Samuel Jr. to a one-year, $4 million contract, and also signed safety Darnell Savage to a one-year deal.

At this point in the offseason, the team has to be happy with what it has accomplished.

Pittsburgh could still look to make more free agency moves. It could also explore the trade market.

All of that being said, the 2026 NFL Draft will be very important for the Steelers. Landing a talent like Lemon in the first round would round out the offensive perfectly and make them one of the most dangerous offensive units in the league.
