Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams isn’t hiding the fact that he wants Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby on his team.

Before the Baltimore Ravens pulled out of the trade for Crosby, Chicago was seen as a top destination and a team that could realistically pull off a move of that magnitude.

“FWIW the Bears have tons of wiggle room with their cap if they were seriously interested in Crosby…Cowboys would strongly depend on if they were willing to back out of the trade for Gary…Eagles situation remains the same as the Jaguars,” Jason Fitzgerald of OvertheCap.com said on X.

Ted Nguyen of The Athletic also added that the Bears were a team that was interested in Crosby.

And now, Williams retweeted a post from ESPN’s Louis Riddick on X where he said “Yesterday’s price, is not today’s price” in quotations, in reference to the cost of trading for Crosby potentially being cheaper after news broke of the Ravens backing out.

That wasn’t the only action Williams took on social media. He also commented a 😁

smiling emoji on Instagram under the NFL’s post of the Ravens signing Trey Hendrickson. That could mean other things, and maybe he’s just doing this to get fans riled up, but nonetheless, the timing of it is interesting.

What fans don’t have to read between the lines for is Williams’ relationship with Crosby. The two are close friends, with Williams appearing on Crosby’s The Rush With Maxx Crosby podcast three weeks ago, where Crosby poured on some massive praise for the Bears franchise QB.

“Just to be open and honest, bro, like we talked about earlier, but respect at a different level, bro. You’re one of those guys, for sure, and you’re just getting started. I don’t even know you understand yet how good you can be, and that’s the scariest part. You know what I mean? Just keep that mindset, keep doing what you’re doing. You know we’re locked in forever. So keep doing your thing, bro. You need me, hit me at any time. It goes vice versa.”

The praise wasn’t one-sided either. Williams called Crosby one of the best players he’s played against after their matchup in 2025, saying, “They’ve got a hell of a player over there. He’s probably the best player I’ve played against so far in my career. They’ve got a hell of a player.”

Latest on Crosby’s Situation

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, teams around the league believe the Raiders aren’t going to come off their asking price of two first-round picks for Crosby.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport also added that Crosby is back in Las Vegas and is ready to resume his training and rehab program.

It’s an extremely complicated situation, considering a failed deal involving multiple first-round picks has never happened before, but the Bears are likely one of those teams keeping tabs on his availability.

This whole saga surrounding Crosby could take some time, especially since Raiders’ general manager John Spytek has lost some leverage in trade negotiations now that it’s apparent he’s open to shipping off his star pass rusher.

If the Raiders are hell-bent on wanting two first-round picks, Chicago should forget making another attempt at trading for Crosby. If Las Vegas lowers its asking price, things start to get interesting.

Who knows, maybe Caleb Williams and Maxx Crosby will be teammates after all.
