Everton are now eyeing a move to sign an experienced Bundesliga star, who will be available as a free agent this summer.
Everton eyeing experienced Bundesliga star
The Toffees are in an ambitious mood ahead of the summer transfer window, and rightly so. David Moyes' side are still in the race to secure European football and are just five points behind Merseyside rivals Liverpool, who have still got to head to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season.

The Scotsman is apparently a big fan.
From bottom-half woes, Everton could be heading for a European tour in their first season at their new stadium and Moyes' first full season since returning to the club.
A large reason for their success has been their recruitment. The Friedkin Group have largely got it spot on - welcoming the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry in the summer.
Everton transfers 25/26 Transfer Fee
Thierno Barry £27m
Tyler Dibling £42m
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall £25m
Jack Grealish Loan
Carlos Alcaraz £12.6m
Tyrique George Loan
Merlin Rohl £17.3m
Mark Travers £4m
Adam Aznou £8m
Tom King £250k
Friedkin are now looking to repeat their transfer success this summer and have already set their sights on the likes of Crysencio Summerville as a result.
The West Ham United has been in excellent form as of late and has done enough to enter the thoughts of Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman ahead of this summer's World Cup.

If West Ham go down, then the winger will be one to watch. Reports have claimed that Everton are one of a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on his situation.
But he's not the only attacker on their radar. The Toffees also have their sights set on a bargain deal. According to Football Insider, Everton are now eyeing a move to sign Julian Brandt for nothing when his current Borussia Dortmund deal expires this summer.
Julian Brandt could replace Grealish
As things stand, it looks as though Grealish will be heading back to Manchester City without a permanent move to Merseyside. And that will leave quite a gap for Moyes to fill this summer.
If the Toffees decide against pursuing the Englishman this summer, then a move to sign Brandt would make perfect sense. The German would be a bargain buy and certainly has the calibre to replace someone of Grealish's quality.
Julian Brandt Appearances Goals Assists
Borussia Dortmund 298 56 69
Bayer Leverkusen 215 42 52
Germany 48 3 3
Whilst he hasn't always set the world alight at Dortmund, Brandt's numbers suggest that he has been at least reliable over time. At 29 years old, he's yet to move past his best and would provide Everton with an undeniable bargain.
All parties should now know exactly where they stand right now too, after Lars Ricken confirmed Dortmund's contract decision.

The Merseysiders want to build on this impressive campaign under Moyes.
The club chief told reporters when asked about the midfielder earlier this month: "We have ultimately reached an agreement and I believe we parted with a great deal of respect. But it’s also another opportunity for both of us."
