The Chicago Bears may want to snag Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders, now that he's available, but they'll have competition.

If the Detroit Lions have any plans to make a run at Maxx Crosby after his failed trade to the Baltimore Ravens, they can’t expect a discount.

The NFL world was rocked on Tuesday when the Las Vegas Raiders announced that the Ravens pulled out of the trade, which would have sent Crosby to Baltimore for a huge haul of draft picks. The Ravens reportedly balked after getting the results of Crosby’s physical, sending the star edge rusher’s future into a realm of uncertainty.

While there had been some immediate speculation that the Raiders may have considered a new trade for Crosby at a discounted price, an insider revealed that this won’t be the case.

Raiders Won’t Lower Asking Price

SI.com insider Albert Breer reported on Wednesday that the aborted trade put the Raiders in a difficult situation, as they had already agreed to deals with some defensive players on the assumption that Crosby was gone.

When the trade blew up, the Raiders chose to honor all of their commitments to players but decided they would not offer a discount to teams looking to land Crosby.

“All this is difficult for everyone,” Breer wrote in a post on X. “The Raiders will work through different scenarios—some teams called last night, but Vegas isn’t going to trade Crosby on a discount. And keeping him with a revamped crew around him isn’t the worst idea in the world.”

Crosby has also returned to the Raiders, continuing on with rehab for his knee injury and preparing as if he will remain in Las Vegas for the coming season.

“Maxx Crosby was in the @Raiders building at 6 am this morning to resume rehab, and the team brass reached out to him immediately after the trade died yesterday,” Breer shared in a post on X. “General feeling—Crosby’s a Raider, let’s move forward. Trade calls came. More will come. But that’s where things are.”

Tough Price for the Lions

The Raiders had been seeking a hefty package of draft picks that included multiple first-round picks with a second-round pick or a player mixed in, which the Ravens were initially able to match before backing out.

That price could be difficult for the Lions, who have placed a high value on their draft picks in building a Super Bowl-contending roster. Though the Lions have been in search of an edge rusher to line up opposite star Aidan Hutchinson and were rumored to be in the mix for Crosby, they could remain out if his price doesn’t drop.

The Lions also face the task of replacing edge rusher Al-Quadin Muhammad, who had 11.0 sacks in 17 games last season. Josh Helmer of USA Today’s Lions Wire suggested the team could have plenty of opportunities, noting that both the free agent and draft classes are deep in that position..

“The good news for Detroit? ESPN thinks there’s options this offseason at both edge rusher and at interior offensive line,” Helmer wrote. “In its ranking of the deepest offseason position groups in free agency and in the 2026 NFL draft, ESPN has edge rusher and interior offensive line ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in terms of depth.”
