Liverpool loanee Lewis Koumas said he hopes his impressive form at Hull City can help him earn a World Cup spot this summer.
The 20-year-old netted what proved to be the winning goal in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over Wrexham on Tuesday, when the winger headed in Liam Millar’s 63rd-minute cross. That was Koumas’ third goal in 10 appearances for the club, after swapping Birmingham City for Hull during the January window.
Koumas struggled to hold down a starting berth at St Andrew’s, but has played a more prominent role at Hull, featuring in all 10 matches since his arrival.

The Liverpool youth-team graduate has scored in wins over Blackburn, Derby and Wrexham to help strengthen Hull’s promotion push. Sergej Jakirovic’s side sits fifth in the table, six points off the top two with nine games remaining.
Koumas is hoping his impressive campaign can result in both club and international success in the coming months, with the attacker keen to nail down a place in Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad.
“It's a massive campaign. We're all looking forward to it and hopefully we'll get the job done,” Koumas told BBC Radio Wales, after Hull’s win at the Racecourse Ground.
“Hopefully, I can make an impact and get put in. It's a nice feeling to score in Wales and to pick up three points on the road.

“It's a massive win. We knew it was a big game. To see the game out, it's a good feeling.
“I'm loving it here at Hull,” he added. “It's a really great place to be around and I'm just really happy in general.
“I'm looking to develop and I feel like it's going great here. I'm just excited now for the rest of the season.”
Koumas has earned nine international caps, but played in just two of Wales World Cup qualifying matches.

Bellamy’s side face Bosnia and Herzegovina in a play-off semi-final later this month, with the winner set to face Italy or Northern Ireland for the chance to secure a place at this summer’s tournament in North America.
Koumas also received the backing of Rob Page recently, Liverpool’s Under-21 coach, who managed Wales at the 2022 World Cup.
“He’s a great lad,” Page told Liverpool.com. “I had a pre-season with him, and he’s great to work with. He’s got a great attitude.
“I’ve seen a couple of his goals. He’s always off the last man, playing off the shoulder. He likes that physicality. Sometimes it’s a tackle as he’s finishing, so he’s great one-on-one.
“It's great for our football club to have young players going out and playing really well and helping us develop them.

“And great for Welsh football, obviously, because we’ve got the play-offs coming up and two big games in March and Craig will no doubt want all his young players playing well at a decent level, and he falls into that category.”
