Celtic face ultimate Andy Robertson dilemma as Boca Juniors move to offload Marcelo Saracchi

The left-back situation at Celtic is rapidly approaching a defining moment as the club prepares for a significant transition this summer.

While Kieran Tierney has rediscovered his outstanding form since returning to Glasgow, the search for a long-term partner to share the workload has led to a fascinating crossroads involving Marcelo Saracchi and Andy Robertson.

Saracchi has been an incredibly refreshing presence during his loan from Boca Juniors, and it could even be argued that he was performing better than Tierney during the first half of the season for Celtic.

However, the potential for an emotional homecoming looms large. And let’s be honest, the champions of Scotland love bringing back a former player.

Robertson is officially entering the final months of his Liverpool career, with his contract set to expire this summer.

As a boyhood fan who was released by the club as a teenager, the chance to sign the Scotland captain on a free transfer is a rare, full-circle opportunity that most fans find impossible to ignore.

Both players offer something unique, but with Tierney already a mainstay, there is likely only room for one elite addition to the left side of the defence.

In truth, when you compare the left-back spot to the rest of the team, you do breathe a sigh of relief, and it is a headache worth having.

When it comes to the striker position, for argument’s sake, you are unsure as to whether the powers that be in the Parkhead boardroom have the footballing brain power to bring in that much-needed goalscorer.

But on the left side of fullback. You have Tierney getting better, better, and better. And then, if it’s Saracchi or Robertson next season, the depth in quality in that area is just incredible and a blessing for the Hoops.
