Your latest Manchester United transfer rumours and updates
Manchester United have been given a major boost in their transfer pursuit of Sandro Tonali as Arsenal have reportedly dropped out of the race, as per Chronicle Live.
Newcastle midfielder Tonali is believed to be a top target for multiple Premier League clubs including United this summer, but the Toon are not keen to sell and may demand £100million for his services. Arsenal were reported to have ‘explored’ a move on January transfer deadline day which did not materialise, but their interest is not expected to continue this summer according to these latest reports.
Reporting states that the Gunners have begun to draw up early transfer targets for next season but Tonali is not amongst their list, with their interest thought to be ‘dropped’ in the 25-year-old. The Gunners might have as little as £40m to spend in the summer due to PSR restrictions and could have to sell first-team stars to afford more expensive purchases.
Man United, meanwhile, are thought to remain in the race for the player alongside the likes of Real Madrid, with Tonali’s future still uncertain at present.
Man Utd leave rivals ‘perplexed’ as Schlotterbeck move targeted
According to reports by Football365 relaying reporting from Spain, Real Madrid have been left ‘perplexed’ as Man United target a major defensive signing this summer.
The report claims that United are set to appoint head coach Michael Carrick on a long-term basis and are keen to ‘reward’ him with the signing of Nico Schlotterbeck. The Borussia Dortmund defender could cost £60m and is reportedly keen on a new challenge this summer, with his contract running out in 2027.
The Germany international has reportedly ruled out a move to Bayern Munich but has United, Real and Liverpool as possible destinations, with the Red Devils thought to be ‘obsessed’ with a move and concerning their market rival in the Spanish capital as a result.
If Carrick is ultimately brought in as head coach once again on a permanent basis in the summer, targeting a move for Schlotterbeck might ultimately be one of the board’s first moves as they look to build on a campaign which they hope will end in Champions League qualification.
