Seahawks to re-sign 28-year-old OL that's a sneaky important move

The Seattle Seahawks are losing a ton of key players in free agency this offseason. While they did bring back Rashid Shaheed and Josh Jobe, the players they've lost are big losses.

Coby Bryant, Riq Woolen, Kenneth Walker, and Boye Mafe are big losses. But the Seahawks will still be in the Super Bowl contenders.

It might not be the biggest deal, but according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network the Seahawks are re-signing Josh Jones, a veteran offensive lineman. This is a sneaky big deal for the Seahawks, and helps to make up for some tough losses this offseason.

Seahawks to re-sign sneaky important OL Josh Jones

"The Seahawks are re-signing OL Josh Jones to a one-year deal, per source," Pelissero reported.

This addition for the Seahawks, bringing Jones in on a one-year deal to return to the Seattle offensive line, is a sneaky big move.

While he's not going to start, and will act as a backup only, he's the perfect backup offensive lineman for the Seahawks this upcoming season.

This past season for Seattle, he played in 14 games and recorded three starts with 258 total snaps. While it's not a large amount by any means, Jones was a nice depth piece when the Seahawks needed him.

He has experience playing at the tackle spots, as well as the interior guard spots. While some backup linemen are tackles or guards only, Jones is a bit more versatile.

Having someone who can fill in for an injured starter if needed is a huge boost for the Seahawks. While it's not the biggest re-signing, this move is a sneaky important one that could look very smart next year if Jones fills in for an injured starter.
