The Washington Commanders have the most remaining cap space in the league with over $76.4 million.
The Washington Commanders‘ front office has been extremely active throughout the first three days of NFL Free Agency. The team has already added several notable big-name players. This includes defensive end Odafe Oweh, who signed a four-year,$100 million deal, edge K’Lavon Chaisson, who signed a one-year,$12 million contract, and cornerback Amik Robertson, who signed a two-year,$16 million deal.
However, these weren’t the only notable players that general manager Adam Peters and his team attempted to acquire. The Commanders reportedly made amassive offer to wide receiver Alec Pierce before he resigned with the Indianapolis Colts. They followed that up byfinishing second in the running for Romeo Doubs before he signed with the New England Patriots. They were alsoreportedly a finalist to snag All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson before he joined the Baltimore Ravens.
The Commanders’ aggressive approach signals that they are attempting to maximize the third year of the Dan Quinn-Adam Peters-Jayden Daniels regime. Their initial big-name signings have all prioritized the defensive side of the ball. There are still several offensive free agents who would fit the Commanders and would help improve the roster. Washington Commanders senior writer Zach Selby pitched10 potential targets.
The Top Three Free Agent Targets for the Washington Commanders
The Commanders have expressed interest in adding young and explosive players. This comes after they bolstered theoldest 53-man rosterin over a decade last season. Of the top remaining free agents on Selby’s list, there are seven who are under 30. Here are the top three on his list.
Jauan Jennings Stats

After missing out on Pierce and Doubs, the Commanders still would like to target a new receiver to pair with Terry McLaurin. At the top of the crop remaining is Jauan Jennings from the 49ers. At only 28 years old, Jennings is known for hisreliable hands and clutch performances. Selby writes, “A 2021 seventh-round pick, Jennings has been a reliable option for Brock Purdy with at least 600 receiving yards in the last two seasons and a career-high nine touchdowns last season. Jennings is also a willing blocker in the run game and provides a physical presence downfield at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds.”Spotrac currently has Jennings ’market value set at $22.6 million with him projected to sign a three-year contract.
Chig Okonkwo Stats

Looking at the tight end position, the Commanders could use a new dynamic threat. Zach Ertz is a free agent and returning from a torn ACL at 35 years old. Selby lists 26-year-old Chigoziem Okonkwo as the best option. “The former Maryland Terrapin has been one of the most consistent parts of the Titans’ franchise for the last four seasons, despite coaching and quarterback changes in that span. He’s actually been more productive than Likely, recording nearly 500 more yards and 59 more catches.”Spotrac has Okonkwo’s market value set at $8 million annually, with him projected to sign a three-year contract.
Rachaad White Stats
GettyTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White recorded 790 total yards and 4 touchdowns in 2025.

Now entering the backfield, Jacory Croskey-Merritt is expected to take a sophomore leap. However, the Commanders should still look to add a complement to him, given that Chris Rodriguez Jr. is afree agent.Selby suggests the team look at Jayden Daniels’ former Arizona State University teammate, Rachaad White. “White’s role in Tampa Bay’s offense changed once Bucky Irving joined the backfield, but White has always been a versatile piece who presents a threat as a runner and pass catcher. He has 4,106 scrimmage yards over the last four seasons combined with 25 touchdowns and an 89% catch rate in that span.” Spotrac has Rahchaad White’s market value placed at $3 million annually, with him projected to sign a two-year deal. White is only 27 years old, and his familiarity with Daniels and change-of-pace speciality would add another consistent target for the team.
