After the Baltimore Ravens backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade at the last second, many around the Philadelphia Eagles believed the team could re-emerge as a potential landing spot.

However, the Eagles’ chances of landing All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby may be fading quickly after new reporting surfaced Wednesday morning.

After a chaotic 24 hours surrounding Crosby’s failed trade to the Ravens, several NFL insiders now suggest the star edge rusher is likely to remain with the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2026 season.

According to Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Jeff McLane, it appears unlikely the Eagles will meet the Raiders’ asking price

It seems “unlikely” that the #Eagles will be willing to meet the #Raiders asking price for Maxx Crosby, per Jeff McLane.

League insider Dianna Russini added further context on Wednesday. She reported that the current expectation inside the league is that Crosby will remain in Las Vegas.

“For now the plan is for Maxx Crosby to be a Raider for the upcoming 2026 season,” Russini said.

Raiders Appear Ready to Move Forward With Crosby

Following the collapse of the proposed Ravens trade, Crosby quickly returned to the Raiders’ facility to continue rehab and meet with team leadership.

According to Albert Breer, Crosby was inside the Raiders building early Wednesday morning and the organization reached out to him immediately after the deal fell apart.

The message from the team appeared clear.

Crosby remains a Raider, at least for now.

While trade calls are expected to continue from teams around the league, the Raiders do not appear eager to move the franchise cornerstone unless a team meets their massive asking price.

That price is reportedly two first-round picks. It is believed to be a major reason why Philadelphia may ultimately stay on the sidelines.

Eagles May Need to Look Elsewhere for Defensive Help

After a very disappointing Day 1 of free agency, the Eagles had a very solid day 2.

They signed cornerback Riq Woolen to a one-year, $15 million deal. Many around the league considered it a very good deal for a player of that caliber at that price.

However, the Eagles also suffered several key losses. Jaelan Phillips, Nakobe Dean, and Reed Blankenship all signed elsewhere.

Because of that, analysts around the league had speculated that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman could explore a blockbuster move for Crosby.

However, if the Raiders remain firm on their asking price and the Eagles refuse to match it, the situation could quickly shift toward Philadelphia pursuing other options.

That path may become even more necessary after the Ravens signed star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson on Wednesday morning, removing another major name from the market.

With both Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby potentially unavailable, the list of elite pass rush targets is quickly shrinking.

Instead, general manager Howie Roseman could pivot toward under-the-radar defensive additions at a lower cost who may not carry the same star power

They can save money by targeting high-impact defenders at a cheaper cost while keeping financial flexibility to give Jalen Carter a major extension in the near future.

But for now, it does not appear that Maxx Crosby will become an Eagle.
