The New England Patriots made an addition to the secondary on Wednesday with the arrival of Kevin Byard III.
The 32-year-old All-Pro safety comes aboard on a one-year, $9 million deal, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.
Byard appeared in all 17 games for the Chicago Bears last season, recording 93 tackles and an NFC-leading seven interceptions. His campaign earned him a first-team All-Pro nod, the third of his career.
A native of Philadelphia, Byard heads into his 11th NFL season out of Middle Tennessee State.
Originally selected with the 64th overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, Byard has appeared in 164 career games with the Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans.
For his career, Byard has 972 tackles, 6.0 sacks and 36 interceptions.
