Fabrizio Romano issues new Alisson Becker update

Juventus and Inter Milan have been heavily linked with Alisson Becker.

Alisson Becker has continued to provide a steady presence for Liverpool this season, but rumours have surfaced about a potential summer exit due to his injury history.

His possible long-term replacement, Giorgi Mamardashvili, joined Liverpool from Valencia last summer and is already part of the squad.

Mamardashvili started in goal on Tuesday night as Alisson was not fit for the Champions League last-16 clash against Galatasaray. “Ali, of course, was in the session – as many people could see – but unfortunately he felt something towards the end of the session,” Slot said at his pre-match press conference on Monday night.

“And it was, how do you say this… people looked at it and we decided and he decided together that it wasn’t good enough to play tomorrow. And then it’s of no use travelling.”

Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan have been heavily linked with Alisson, both seeking a ‘world-class goalkeeper’. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Alisson intends to remain at Liverpool next season. Alisson has made 32 appearances for the Reds across all competitions this season, contributing one assist in the process.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “He’s under contract till 2027. The message from Alisson’s camp is that the player really wants to continue at Liverpool. He really wants to fulfill his contract at Liverpool one more season, till June 2027, and then eventually consider his future.

“But at the moment, Alisson’s desire is to continue at Liverpool. Then we have to see at the end of the season, when there will be a Liverpool season review on the players, on the manager, and all the people involved at the club, what kind of decision will be made also on the goalkeeper and on the players in general.

“Don’t forget that Alisson already used to play in Italy for AS Roma before joining Liverpool. In that case, it depends on the club. But at the moment, from Alison, the desire is clear to continue at Liverpool.”
