Chelsea XI vs PSG: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League today

Ready to play: Chelsea captain Reece James was back in training before PSG trip

Chelsea Football Newsletter

Chelsea have received a double boost as they prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in a huge Champions League test.

The Blues face the side they beat in the Club World Cup final last summer when they pay them a visit at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.

And ahead of the game, there was positive news for Liam Rosenior on the injury front as both Reece James and Jamie Gittens were pictured in training at Cobham on Tuesday morning before the squad flew out to France, although Gittens was then left out of Chelsea’s travelling squad.

James, however, starts in midfield at the Parc Des Princes.

Also training with the first team was Levi Colwill, who has not played a single minute so far this term after suffering a serious knee injury on the first day of pre-season training.

He will also not feature against PSG after missing out on the travelling squad too, but his return to training is a positive development.

Cole Palmer was also training on Tuesday but there was no Estevao, who has been following an individual programme after a hamstring injury that turned out to be a little more serious than expected.

Rosenior has named his strongest possible lineup for the trip to Paris and so the availability of James to feature is key.

Malo Gusto conducted pre-match press conference duties at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday and starts as expected.

Andrey Santos is handed a rest. Unlike most regular starters, he started at Wrexham.

There is a decision to make in goal. Rosenior dropped first-choice ‘keeper Robert Sanchez away at Aston Villa last week and was rewarded as Filip Jorgensen was part of a team that won 4-1.

When Sanchez then played against Wrexham in the FA Cup on Saturday, he looked nervous and conceded twice against the Championship side. Subsequently, he is dropped back to the bench with the Dane preferred.

Chelsea XI: Jorgensen; Gusto, Chalobah, Fofana, Cucurella; Caicedo, James; Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro
