The Seattle Seahawks got a surprise opening to make a run at Maxx Crosby, but their odds of landing him may be growing ever slimmer.

The Seahawks were seen as a dark-horse candidate to land the star edge rusher, but the Las Vegas Raiders appeared to strike a deal with the Baltimore Ravens. That fell apart on Tuesday when the Ravens balked at the results of Crosby’s physical, but that doesn’t seem to put the Seahawks any closer to landing him.

Seahawks Face Shrinking Odds at Maxx Crosby Trade

As Action Network reported, the odds on Crosby’s next landing spot have shifted since the Ravens trade blew up, but the most likely outcome appears to be him remaining in Las Vegas. By midday on Wednesday, the Seahawks saw their odds dwindling close to zero.

The odds, through the oddsmaker Kalshi, showed that Crosby had a 46% chance of staying in Las Vegas and a 27% chance of going to the Chicago Bears. The odds fell sharply from there, with the Seahawks listed near the bottom at 2%.

Prior to the bad news, there had been some speculation that the Super Bowl champions could make a run at Crosby. Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times suggested the Seahawks would look into him, even if Crosby’s price proved to be too high.

“Certainly, the Seahawks will need to do something at the rush end spot this offseason, especially if [free agent Boye] Mafe gets away,” Condotta wrote. “But the price for Crosby — both in draft capital and salary and cap space — might be a bit much, especially when there may be other less costly options.”

The Seahawks already lost running back Kenneth Walker III to free agency, and could prioritize keeping their own players and making smaller moves.

Silver Lining for the Seahawks

The Seahawks may have some good news amid the fast-moving developments on Crosby. The Dallas Cowboys were initially in the running to land him, and the initial trade to the Ravens meant that he didn’t jump to a team that could challenge the Seahawks for NFC supremacy.

If Crosby should remain in Las Vegas, it would keep him from landing with another potential rival for the Seahawks. The Bears are seen as frontrunners to land Crosby if he does head back to the trade block, but the Raiders may instead be planning to keep him.

SI.com insider Albert Breer reported that Crosby is already back in Las Vegas to continue rehab, and the Raiders are not planning to offer a discount in the hopes of trading him.

“All this is difficult for everyone,” Breer wrote in a post on X. “The Raiders will work through different scenarios—some teams called last night, but Vegas isn’t going to trade Crosby on a discount. And keeping him with a revamped crew around him isn’t the worst idea in the world.”

The uncertainty around Crosby’s injury could also cool his trade market. The Ravens reportedly grew concerned about the long-term projection for his knee injury, which could spark concerns among other potential suitors.
