BEREA -- Just before the NFL new league opened on Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns announced that they have placed a tender on safety Ronnie Hickman. He was a restricted free agent. was originally signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2023. In his three seasons, Hickman has started 26 of 41 career games. He has continued to develop in his role with the Browns and was a full-time starter in 2025 starting all 17 games. He also set career highs in tackles with 100 and had two interceptions with seven passes defensed in 2025.
The Browns did not announce the amount of the tender, but ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that it was a second-round tender ($5.8 million). The Browns can match any offer that he were to get or receive compensation.

Hickman has recorded 173 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one quarterback hit, 11 passes defensed, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and one touchdown over three seasons.
The Browns are expected to announce the official moves made by the team when the NFL 2026 league years begins at 4 pm. on Wednesday.
