There were a few big selection questions for Liam Rosenior ahead of tonight’s game against PSG.

The biggest was in goal, where he went for Filip Jorgensen for the second week in a row in a “first team” game. Robert Sanchez lost favour after a bad game against Arsenal and didn’t do much to retain his place when he faced Wrexham at the weekend.

He was asked about it on TNT Sports ahead of kick off, and defended that call.

Rosenior defends two key places where he’s changed his former first XI

“FIlip was fantastic against Aston Villa and we won the game 4-1 away from home,” the manager pointed out.

“I’m really lucky in that I have two outstanding goalkeepers. Robert has different qualities, as we’ve seen in the games I’ve been at. But whoever plays I’ve got full confidence they can put in a good performance.”

The Chelsea boss also backed his midfield selection of Reece James alongside Moises Caicedo as capable of keeping up with PSG in possession. It means Gusto at right back, and Andrey Santos on the bench. We’ll find out pretty quickly if it’s a workable solution.

Rosenior also spoke about how he wanted to give his players more confidence and convince them to not be afraid against a beatable PSG team.

One person who won’t be delighted right now is Andrey Santos, who has lost his place in Liam Rosenior’s first team for now.
