Eagles rumor would land Vikings star in blockbuster trade

The Philadelphia Eagles apparently wanted Trey Hendrickson, but the former Bengals star pass rusher eventually signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

That leaves Philly looked elsewhere for guys to get after the quarterback, and it sounds like they're calling up the Minnesota Vikings.

The Ahletic's Dianna Russini wrote this on X on Wednesday:

"The Eagles continue to inquire about the Vikings’ Jonathan Greenard and remain in contact with his agent about a potential extension if a deal were to be struck, sources say. Philly is also keeping tabs on the free agent pass rush market after missing out on Trey Hendrickson."

Greenard is a Pro Bowl defensive end.

He was a third-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2020 from Florida after first starting his college career with Louisville.

Greenard played his first four NFL seasons in Houston.

He was quiet in year one, with just 1.0 sack.

He broke out a bit with 8.0 sacks in 2021.

In 2022, injuries limited Greenard to just eight games and 1.5 sacks.

Then in 2023, he showed his upside with 12.5 sacks.

Greenard was then moved to Minnesota, where he had 12.0 sacks in a Pro Bowl 2024 season.

He struggled in 12 games in 2025, dinged up and less effective, finishing with just 3.0 sacks.

There'd be a bit more risk in Greenard than Hendrickson just because of those inconsistencies, but the Eagles would certainly benefit from adding a talented 28-year old like Greenard to the roster.
