Lakers legend Robert Horry criticized Bam Adebayo's historic 83-point game against the Wizards, calling it disrespectful to the sport. Horry pointed to the Heat's intentional fouls and extended possessions that helped Adebayo break Kobe Bryant's 81-point record, saying the performance should come with an asterisk.
Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Robert Horry was not impressed with the way Bam Adebayo reached his historic scoring mark.
While many around the league praised the performance, Horry shared a different opinion during a segment on Spectrum SportsNet.
The former NBA champion questioned how the record was reached, pointing to the closing minutes of the game.
"83 points is impressive. But it gets to a point where you have to respect the game. And I think there were moments in this game where it was not respected," Horry said. "83 points is a lot, I appreciate the effort, and it's going to go down as the second-most in the game. But it's like you always say on certain things, it should have an asterisk by it, I'm putting an asterisk by this one. It's still a lot. I'm not taking away anything from Bam, it's a lot."
Adebayo delivered one of the greatest scoring performances in NBA history, finishing with 83 points in the Miami Heat win over the Washington Wizards.
The massive scoring night pushed him past the 81-point game recorded by Kobe Bryant during the 2005-06 season with the Lakers.
Despite the debate, Adebayo's 83-point explosion now ranks as the second-highest scoring performance in NBA history. Only Wilt Chamberlain has scored more in a single game, when he recorded 100 points in 1962.
