Daughter of former NFL All-Pro wide receiver to compete in track and field at KU

Antanyiah “Nyiah” Brown, a sprinter from North Miami Senior High School in Florida and daughter of former All-Pro NFL receiver Antonio Brown, will compete in track and field at the University of Kansas.

Brown announced she’d be competing for KU on Wednesday during a ceremony attended by family and fellow students at North Miami High. KU later confirmed the news on its X social-media account.

Brown chose the Jayhawks over offers from South Florida, Arkansas State and others, putting on a KU letter jacket before signing her financial aid agreement.

According to On3.com, Brown placed fourth in the women’s 100 and seventh in the 200 as a junior at the Florida Class 3A state championships. She ran on the school’s 4x100 relay team that placed second at state with a time of 46.79.

She recently won the 100 at the GMAC Invitational in 12.08. She was clocked in 11.74 in the 100 and 23.97 in the 200 at the Ellis Elite 16 Invitational.

According to On3.com, Brown’s career-best finish in the 100 came last year, when she ran 11.66 at the Dade County Youth Fair High School Championship.

Brown’s father, Antonio Brown, played in the NFL for 12 seasons, including eight with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The four-time All-Pro selection won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay in 2020. He attended Central Michigan University.
