After the Philadelphia 76ers got back on track with a shorthanded win over the Memphis Grizzlies, the team is dealing with another critical injury that will affect their starting lineup.
Kelly Oubre Jr. finished the 139-129 victory with 30 points on 10-24 shooting. He logged a double-double with 12 rebounds.
Despite having an impressive performance, Oubre underwent an MRI on Wednesday morning. The results were not promising.

via Sixers: “An MRI today revealed that Kelly Oubre Jr. suffered a sprain of the lateral collarteral ligament in his left elbow. The initial injury occurred during last night’s game against Memphis. Oubre Jr. will be reevaluated in approximately two weeks. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.”
Earlier this season, Oubre suffered a knee injury, which held him out of the lineup from November 17 until January 5. He returned to the court to face the Washington Wizards on January 7. Since then, he’s missed just two games.
This season, Oubre has appeared in 41 games. He started in 36 of those games, averaging over 30 minutes on the court. The veteran forward is averaging 14.7 points per game, while shooting 46% from the field. Oubre is hitting on 36% of his threes on 5.0 attempts per game.
The Sixers Are Struggling With Injuries

Oubre is far from the only Sixer to deal with injury concerns.
Ahead of the victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday, the Sixers announced that the veteran guard Tyrese Maxey would be out with an injury for several weeks.
Maxey suffered his setback during a 37-minute shift against the Atlanta Hawks. He nearly finished the game after producing 31 points, five assists, four steals, and two rebounds. The Sixers ruled out Maxey for two games before getting the results of his further testing.
Ahead of the Memphis game, the Sixers announced that Maxey suffered a tendon injury to the small finger on his right hand. He is out for at least the next three games.
In addition to Maxey and Oubre, the Sixers are currently without their star center, Joel Embiid. Recently, Embiid suffered an oblique injury and doesn’t have a set timetable for return.
Since the Sixers have returned from the All-Star break, Embiid has battled knee and shin soreness, in addition to his oblique injury. Embiid has appeared in just two games since February 19. The Grizzlies game was his sixth absence in a row.
As the injuries pile up, the Sixers are 35-30 on the year. They are eighth in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Orlando Magic by one game.
