Trade speculation surrounding Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has intensified throughout the early stages of the NFL offseason.
However, a new update from ESPN insider Adam Schefter suggests the Eagles are not eager to move one of the league’s top playmakers.
During a recent appearance on ESPN, Schefter addressed the growing buzz around Brown’s future and made it clear Philadelphia’s preference is to keep the All-Pro wide receiver.
However, he also highlighted that Brown still wants to be traded.
“They would rather not move him, even though he would like to be moved,” Schefter said. “And they are not going to move him until they get what they feel is a fair price.”

That stance highlights the complicated situation unfolding in Philadelphia. While Brown’s name has surfaced in multiple trade discussions across the league, the Eagles appear to be maintaining a firm position as teams explore potential deals.
The update also arrives as the wide receiver market continues to shift following several notable offseason moves in the first few days of free agency.
Eagles Would Need Major Return for A.J. Brown
Philadelphia’s position makes it clear that any potential trade involving Brown would require a substantial offer.
Brown has been one of the NFL’s most productive receivers since arriving in Philadelphia. The former Tennessee Titans star quickly became a centerpiece of the Eagles’ offense. He has earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors while posting multiple 1,400-yard seasons.
Since joining the Eagles, Brown has accumulated more than 5,000 receiving yards while establishing himself as one of the league’s most physically dominant wideouts.
Those credentials give Philadelphia significant leverage in any potential negotiations.
According to Over The Cap, trading Brown before June 1 would also create a massive financial impact. The Eagles would absorb a dead cap charge exceeding $43 million, a figure that makes a deal far more complicated.
If Brown remains on the roster for the 2026 season, his cap hit would sit around $23.3 million.
Those financial realities are one reason the Eagles may be hesitant to move their star receiver unless a truly compelling offer emerges.
Wide Receiver Market Continues to Shift
The timing of Schefter’s update is notable as the wide receiver market continues to evolve across the league.
Earlier this offseason, the Chicago Bears traded star receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, removing one of the biggest potential trade targets from the market. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a major move of their own by acquiring Michael Pittman Jr.
Other teams have looked toward free agency for offensive upgrades. The New England Patriots recently agreed to a four-year, $70 million deal with former Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs to give quarterback Drake Maye another weapon.
With several major moves already reshaping the receiver landscape, Brown remains the biggest name still connected to trade speculation.
