The Patriots have started revamping their offensive line by trading center Garrett Bradbury to the Bears last week. Meanwhile, Chicago has also added another offensive lineman that New England might have been interested in signing.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that former Cleveland Browns left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. is signing a one-year deal with the Bears.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Thursday that the Patriots recently brought Wills in for a visit.
The Browns selected Wills in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and he played five seasons in Cleveland before his contract expired. He didn't participate in the league last season due to a knee injury.
Wills has transitioned into more of a backup tackle at this point in his career. He has experience playing on both sides of the line, playing right tackle at Alabama before the Browns moved him to the left side.
New England would've likely brought in Wills as a backup to left tackle Will Campbell, or it may have considered moving him to guard, with Jared Wilson assumably shifting to center.
