The Broncos bring back yet another.
According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos are re-signing veteran defensive linemen Matt Hennigsen to a one-year deal. Like Krull, Henningsen will likely get the vet minimum, worth a little over 1 million dollars.
Henningsen was selected in the 6th round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos and played a good amount during his first few seasons with the team. However, his snaps began to dip in 2024 when the Broncos added to their defensive line, and then in 2025, he suffered a season-ending injury early in training camp. He was a restricted free agent, but the Broncos did not tender him; they will re-sign him at likely the vet minimum to provide depth at the defensive line position.
With John Franklin-Myers leaving via free agency for the Tennessee Titans, the Broncos needed to add some depth to their defensive line position. Henningsen has some experience and flashed some pass-rush potential early in his career, but he really hasn’t played all that much since the 2023 season.
His odds of making the team are rather low, and at best, he provides some potential experienced practice squad depth. I would anticipate the Broncos to add a few defensive linemen via the draft and during undrafted free agency to compete, so even a practice squad spot is not a guarantee for Henningsen.
