Chelsea player ratings vs PSG, Enzo Fernandez stars but 4/10 defender has moment to forget

Chelsea’s Champions League hopes are hanging on by a thread, and only have themselves to blame that the task is not easier in the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were beaten 5-2 by PSG in a thrilling game, with Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez finding the net after falling behind.

All eyes were on Filip Jorgensen though as his unforced error in possession gifted Vitinha a simple finish after first half goals from Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele.

Chelsea player ratings vs PSG

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia provided a couple of late daggers, giving Chelsea a big task back at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea Chronicle have handed out player ratings from the defeat in France.

Filip Jorgensen: 4/10

Was thrown into the starting side instead of Robert Sanchez, and produced a number of good saves from the dangerous PSG attack.

However, his confidence on the ball was Chelsea’s undoing as his poor pass gave Vitinha a simple finish.

Malo Gusto: 8/10

Frequently found himself in acres of space in attack, summed up by his first half goal. Was given a real test by Barcola down PSG’s left.

Wesley Fofana: 6/10

Was put in the unfortunate position of being squared up by Dembele for the second goal, sold up the river by his central defensive partner.

Trevoh Chalobah: 4/10

Dived in unnecessarily just seconds before Chelsea conceded the second goal on the counter attack. Trevoh Chalobah took a risk that drastically backfired.

Marc Cucurella: 6/10

Justified his selection in the side over the in-form Jorrel Hato with a strong performance at left-back, working hard to keep Desire Doue quiet.

Reece James: 6/10

Physically dominant in the heart of midfield, but was caught on the ball for PSG’s fourth goal.

Moises Caicedo: 7/10

Played his part as Chelsea shaded the midfield battle, with Moises Caicedo joining James in frequently winning the ball back for the Blues.

Enzo Fernandez: 9/10

Back in the number 10 position, back amongst the goals. Fernandez is continuing to prove a real goal threat, but his strike tonight came alongside a superb display.

Cole Palmer: 6/10

PSG were well aware of his qualities from the Club World Cup final, however Cole Palmer still showed real dangerous signs for the holders.

Pedro Neto: 7/10

Did brilliantly to set up Fernandez for the second goal, using his pace down the left after winning the ball back. Had plenty of opportunities to use that pace too.

Joao Pedro: 6/10

A rare off night for Joao Pedro. Worked hard in attack but very little of what he did played out as planned.

Liam Delap: N/A

Romeo Lavia: N/A

Alejandro Garnacho: N/A
