Lamar Odom is looking for a new avenue in life. Could he get back to basketball as a coach? If the two-time NBA All-Star has it his way, that's exactly what will happen.
According to a report by TMZ, sources close to Odom say he has "Been traveling recently and sat down with several college basketball programs to discuss potential coaching opportunities."
This would be a huge step for Odom, who has no relevant coaching experience on the books. While it's not the worst idea, there will have to be a school to bite on what's being sold. Odom is reportedly pitching schools on bringing back the legendary Triangle Offense, the system he mastered under Phil Jackson, who was originally taught by Tex Winter.
Odom's experience could be enough for a lower-division school to have a serious conversation about his candidacy. However, don't expect a major Power Four program to take a leap right into a coach with zero experience. That might work for some players in the future, like LeBron James and others who are coming off the court. As of now, it will take someone who understands the business of navigating through NIL to be a head coach.

The biggest strength for Odom is he's available right now. Whether there will be a program to bring him in remains to be seen.
