The Houston Texans are pressing forward with their efforts to bolster their roster this offseason, and free agency has been far more active on Days 2 and 3 than it was at the outset. The third day of action saw the Texans tab Foster Moreau.

Houston experienced plenty of attrition at tight end during the 2025 season, cycling through several options alongside starter Dalton Schultz, who battled injuries in the playoffs.

The Texans hope Moreau is a part of the solution.

“Current expectation is that Foster Moreau will be signing with another team,” NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reported on X on March 11. “He’s been in talks with the Houston Texans, per source.”

The situation escalated quickly.

“This is done,” Underhill said in a follow-up post on X roughly one hour after his initial reporting. “He’s a Texan.”

Moreau, who turns 29 in May, caught seven passes for 59 yards in 11 games as a reserve for the New Orleans Saints this past season. He has a 151-1,772-18 line for his career, which began as a fourth-round pick (137th overall) by the Las Vegas (then-Oakland) Raiders in 2019.

Moreau is coming off a three-year, $12.2 million contract with $17.5 million in career earnings.

The veteran tight end has started 70 of the 104 games that he has played in, including nine contests for the Saints during the 2025 campaign.

Moreau joins a crowded room, headlined by Schultz, and including Brevin Jordan, Cade Stover, Layne Pryor, and Luke Lachey. The Texans signed Schultz in free agency in 2023, drafted Jordan (2021), Stover (2024), and Lachey (2025), and added Pryor as an undrafted free agent.

Lachey and Pryor do not have any NFL regular-season experience.

Jordan missed the entire 2025 season, while Stover also battled injuries, underscoring the Texans’ need for a reliable option like Moreau.
