Eagles named top landing spot for Maxx Crosby after failed trade to Ravens

For a minute there, it looked like the Philadelphia Eagles missed their chance to trade for Las Vegas Raiders star defensive tackle Maxx Crsoby, as the Raiders agreed to trade him to the Baltimore Ravens.

But, that trade fell through, leaving the door open for the Eagles to potentially swoop in and acquire him via trade with Las Vegas. Philadelphia was recently named a top potential landing spot for Crosby by Alex Kay of Bleacher Report.

“Crosby would be a perfect fit in the City of Brotherly Love. The team needs an elite pass-rushing talent to lead the defense, as no Eagles player notched more than 6.5 sacks last season. Haason Reddick's 11-sack effort in 2023 marked the most recent time a Philadelphia defender accumulated more than eight sacks in a season,” Kay wrote.

“… If the Raiders are willing to let Crosby go at a cheaper cost—perhaps Philly's No. 23 overall pick instead of the mid-first rounder and future Day 1 pick they initially would have received from Baltimore—it wouldn't be a surprise to see the superstar defender wind up in an Eagles uniform.”

It remains to be seen what the Raiders will do with Crosby now that the trade with the Ravens fell through. They already tried to trade him once, so it’s logical that they would try to trade him again. But, they could also decide to hang onto him now, at least for the time being.

One thing is for certain, though. If there’s a move to be made, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is the man to make it. Roseman will almost assuredly check in with the Raiders about Crosby, if he hasn’t already.

That doesn't mean a deal between the two sides will come to fruition, but crazier things have happened.
