The Buffalo Bills were one of the worst teams in the NFL at getting to the quarterback last season.

They were tied for the sixth-fewest sacks in the NFL (36), and upgrading the position as a top priority of the front office heading into the offseason, which is why Buffalo was so heavily linked to a potential trade for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.

Before former Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson signed with the Ravens for $114 million on Wednesday morning, Buffalo was also in on him as well.

Though the Crosby trade with the Baltimore Ravens fell through on Tuesday night, many expected the Bills to make another play to acquire him again.

That speculation died down by Wednesday afternoon when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Bills had poached a former top pass-rusher from the division rival Miami Dolphins.

“Former Dolphins DE Bradley Chubb reached agreement on a three-year, $43.5 million deal worth up to $52.5 million that includes $29 million guaranteed with the Buffalo Bills,” Schefter stated.

Chubb was a hot commodity near the trade deadline back in November. Several teams inquired about his availability, but Miami never pulled the trigger due to not getting a sufficient offer.

The 29-year-old pass-rusher logged 48 pressures, 47 tackles, 31 hurries, 9 QB hits, 8.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, per Pro Football Focus. In seven NFL seasons, Chubb has totaled 306 pressures, 190 hurries, 63 QB hits, 48 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries.

Chubb will provide a solid upgrade to Buffalo’s pass-rush that took a hit with Joey Bosa and A.J. Epenesa both hitting free agency. Gregory Rousseau, who had 63 pressures, 36 hurries, 9 QB hits, and 7 sacks last season, is the team’s only other legitimate threat off the edge.
