Ross played the lion's share of the corner reps in one game. It was the team's season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell were out with injury. Ross and Sam Webb were the tandem primarily tasked with covering the wide receiver tandem of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Quarterback Joe Burrow was healthy. The expectation was the Browns would be blown overpowered by the Bengals. As it would turn out, the Browns defense were able to hold the Bengals to 18 points while scoring a pair of touchdowns. Devin Bush caught a pick that went almost the length of the field for a touchdown. Webb was able to pick up a fumble and take it back for the other touchdown. The Browns won the game 20-18.

Ross can operate as a corner, but he also was tasked with playing on special teams. He logged 123 snaps in his seven games with the Browns, utilized on kick return, kick coverage, punt return and punt coverage. Special teams might be a critical piece in Ross making the final roster for the Browns, but he will also be competing for a spot on the depth chart at corner.

The Browns have their trio of starting corners under contract in Ward, Campbell and Myles Harden from last year. Everything else in that room is up for grabs and Harden is likely going to face competition to hold his starting job.

The expectation is the Browns are not done adding to their secondary and specifically corner. Their starting defense is returning with the exception of Devin Bush, who has agreed to a three-year deal with the Chicago Bears. The Browns already have his replacement worked out as they have agreed to a two-year deal with linebacker Quincy Williams. They could look to upgrade at certain positions, but their major focus on that side of the ball will be depth.

Ross is the second re-signing the Browns have made. They also agreed to re-sign guard Teven Jenkins. The move for Ross is their second of the day as they also agreed to sign free agent tight end Jack Stoll. It's the first move the team has made since the starting of the league year. They also made some of their other moves official including the trade for offensive tackle Tytus Howard, who was acquired from the Houston Texans in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
