Tottenham revive interest in Liverpool veteran with over 350 appearances as they make contract…

Tottenham had tried to sign the Liverpool veteran in January this year.

Tottenham Hotspur had established surprise links with a move for Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson in the winter transfer window. And while no transfer was materialised for the Scotland international, it showed how the Lilywhites need to bring in a new full-back for the left flank, given the injury problems that Destiny Udogie has been experiencing in the past couple of seasons.

And going into the summer window, this surely would be one of the priorities for the North Londoners as they look to stitch up their defence and ensure that the back line has enough options to compete throughout the season.

Tottenham to go back in for Robertson?

The Lilywhites tried to sign Robertson in the winter window, but he decided on staying put at Anfield Stadium. But with his contract set to expire at L4 at the conclusion of the ongoing campaign, the Lilywhites will remain hopeful of convincing him to reconsider if he were to not renew his contract and move away, as per a recent report from Football Insider.

While Reds’ gaffer Arne Slot is said to be open to keeping hold of the 31-year-old, who has over 350 appearances for Liverpool, if he were to accept a reduced role for next season.

He did remind the Reds faithful of the quality that he still has after his goal in the Merseysiders’ 3-1 win against Wolves in the FA Cup last weekend. The aforementioned report states that it ended up impressing the coaching staff at Kirkby and sparked a new set of discussions internally about handing him a new contract.

For Tottenham, the Lilywhites have been craving a player who brings that immediate impact value to the table. And in the transfer strategy of bringing in the next best young player, finally getting some experience in the roster who can add that quality to the squad will be a big boost.

That being said, any possible transfer still remains complicated, as Tottenham will first need to ensure that they remain a top-flight club before trying to convince Robertson to move across England.

Lilywhites defender Destiny Udogie has also established recent links with Man City, which has surged the demands of a new full back at Tottenham, given how the club will be left with only Souza as a recognised full back for that flank if Udogie were to be sold.
