The New England Patriots haven't been the big players in free agency, as many had hoped, after making the Super Bowl last year.
Yes, there's been some good deals, like Romeo Doubs coming to be a weapon for Drake Maye, but other than that, nothing really substantial has come about. Especially on defense.
But the Patriots, like a handful of other teams, might have gotten a lifeline when Maxx Crosby's trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell through.
And for Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick, a move for Crosby would be swell for New England.
"New England has yet to make a major move at edge rusher this offseason, signing former Raven Dre’Mont Jones to a modest three-year deal while watching K’Lavon Chaisson sign with the Commanders and releasing Anfernee Jennings," Kadlick wrote.
"Crosby, who’s been rumored to want to play for Vrabel, would add an immediate presence to a Patriots front seven that needs it."

Patriots a spot for Crosby?
Well, we know that Tom Brady, who has a minority stake in the Raiders, reportedly doesn't think so.
But now that the Ravens trade has fallen through, maybe the Patriots could return to the negotiating table. After all, the price is going to be significantly lower now.
The Patriots had a great defense last season, but were missing genuine pass rush options.
If we add in Crosby, Mike Vrabel's defense takes on a whole new look.
And one that is nightmare fuel for the AFC.
