Cam Skattebo reflects on he and Jaxson Dart's competitive spirit.
Last season, Cam Skattebo and Jaxson Dart headlined the newest batch of rookies on the New York Giants. The two quickly built a strong bond, which seems to stem from having a strong competitive fire.
On March 11th, the Giants’ running back was a guest on the “Rich Eisen Show” to discuss a variety of topics. One of them being New York’s newest QB. While Dart has caught flak from critics about his unwillingness to slide in certain scrambling situations, Skattebo noted that letting off the gas isn’t in their DNA.
“It’s not an option for us. I think we both think the same way,” Skattebo said. “If it’s 4th and 1 and we got to dive to get it or run through someone’s face, that’s what we do. The kid’s a dog, he loves the game.”

Upon taking over as the Giants’ starting QB early in the season, Dart showed he can be a dual threat at the professional level. Across his 14 appearances as a rookie, the former first-round pick rushed for just under 500 yards and nine touchdowns.
Giants RB Cam Skattebo Gives Promising Injury Update
After being drafted in the fourth round in 2025, Skattebo quickly emerged as a key threat within the Giants. Given his ability to attack defenses on the ground or in the air, he provided New York with another dynamic talent to deploy in the backfield.
Skattebo came out of the gates hot, racking up over 600 scrimmage yards in his first eight games. However, things ended up taking a turn for the worse. During a Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, he suffered a gruesome ankle injury that would sideline him for the rest of his rookie campaign.
During his interview with Eisen, Skattebo gave a positive injury update as the offseason rolls along. He stated that he’s back to running and feels he’s around 75% physically.
“I’m getting better,” Skattebo said. “I ran for the first time today about 75% so it’s the bright side of things…A little bit over a jog, kind of just striding out. Not exploding yet.”
Cam Skattebo Aiming to be Fully in Action for Giants Training Camp
Skattebo wasn’t shy about still having a ways to go before he’s back to full strength. That said, he expects to be all systems go when it comes time to start ramping up for his sophomore season.
Following his minor update on his ankle, Eisen asked Skattebo where he expects to be when training camp rolls around. Coming up on five months from when his ankle injury occurred, the Giants back thinks he only needs a few more weeks to return to form.
“I’ll be ready to go by training camp,” Skattebo said. “I probably got a little over a month left before I’m fully back to 100%. OTAs are coming up in about a month and I’m excited. I’ll be ready to go.”
Being fully ready to go for OTAs is big for the Skattebo, as he has a new head coach to impress in hopes of winning the starting running back job in 2026.
