Celtics Release Alarming Injury Report Ahead Of Massive Thunder Showdown

The Boston Celtics were shorthanded on Tuesday night, and it showed. Between Jaylen Brown's second-quarter ejection and the absences of Payton Pritchard and Nikola Vucevic, the Celtics were unable to keep up with the San Antonio Spurs in the second half and ultimately lost, 125-116.

Now, it looks like Boston may be even more depleted for Thursday's road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Celtics released their preliminary injury report on Wednesday, and it featured four prominent players.

Vucevic remains out with a right ring finger fracture, which he suffered last Friday, while Pritchard has been upgraded to probable with his neck spasm. More concerningly, however, Jayson Tatum and Derrick White are both questionable.

Injury Report for tomorrow at OKC:

Payton Pritchard - Neck Spasm - PROBABLE

Jayson Tatum - Right Achilles Repair Reconditioning - QUESTIONABLE

Nikola Vucevic - Right Ring Finger Fracture - OUT

Derrick White - Right Knee Contusion - QUESTIONABLE

Tatum might be due for a rest day after playing in all three of Boston's games since returning from his Achilles injury. He's averaged 27 minutes per game thus far, which is a bit more than some were expecting.

White's missed only two games all season and none since Jan. 23, so he's probably due for a day off.

If one or both of them sit, that will make beating the Thunder even more challenging. The defending champs own the best record in the NBA at 51-15 and have won nine of their last 10 games.

Celtics fans will want to check back on Thursday for the updated injury report, but not having White and/or Tatum would be a significant blow for Boston.
