Opinion - Liam Rosenior has just copied dreadful Igor Tudor decision in Chelsea's Champions League defeat

Chelsea fell to a significant defeat in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 first leg against PSG, and Liam Rosenior has some questions to answer.

The Blues were defeated 5-2 in Paris, giving them a mountain to climb at Stamford Bridge after a number of self-inflicted wounds.

All eyes were on Filip Jorgensen in the second half after his unforced error gifted Vitinha PSG’s third goal, and he should have done better to deny the final goal which has put the tie in serious jeopardy.

What should Liam Rosenior’s next move be?🤔

Liam Rosenior falls into Igor Tudor trap with goalkeeper decision for Chelsea vs PSG

Just 24 hours earlier, Tottenham lost by the exact same result to Atletico Madrid, and also had plenty of complaints regarding their goalkeeper, Antonin Kinsky.

Two errors saw him substituted off after just 15 minutes, after their first-choice goalkeeper had started the game on the bench.

Tudor has faced plenty of criticism in his early days at Spurs, however his decision to start a young goalkeeper in the Champions League has been amongst the biggest talking points.

The same occurred last night in Paris, with Rosenior’s decision to bench his more experienced option blowing up in his face.

Robert Sanchez has proven throughout the season that he had shown great improvements, although was dropped from the starting side after a poor display against Arsenal.

The Spaniard could only watch as Jorgensen diced with danger on a number of occasions, when the best port of call seemed to be going long, an area Sanchez has improved in greatly.

The blueprint was there from the Club World Cup final, where the Spaniard started and sent Chelsea on their way to their first goal with a superb long ball to Malo Gusto.

He also made a number of key saves that saw the Blues protect their lead last summer, and Rosenior will regret not starting him in the Champions League clash.

Sanchez should be one of the first names on the teamsheet for the second leg, however the damage has already been done from Rosenior’s risky decision which simply didn’t pay off.
